Lunch with Daddy

This past Friday we got to join Bobby at work and have lunch.  Pippy loves, loves, loves going downtown and loves it even more if we get to go to daddy's work.

Intern Babies!  These former, fellow interns sparked a baby boom at Bob's work.  They are roughly 3 months apart  with Brynnie being the oldest.

We hadn't been by the house in 2 weeks and when we pulled on to our street, I hardly recognized the place!

Bluebonnets

Spring is in BLOOM and my allergies can certainly testify to that!  We drove up to see our house and to hang out at the local park.  We stopped for picnic and noticed several families taking pictures. We weren't sure of what or why until we rounded the corner and spotted a tiny field of bluebonnets-  Texas's state flower.  Luckily, I brought my camera and we were able to snap a few pics of kiddies.

Sisters and Family Date Night

The past 2 weeks have been spent cooped up in our house.  Last week, it rained every day, all day.  On Friday, Pip didn't feel well at all.  She laid around the house for a good portion of the morning before getting her energy and even then she wasn't herself.  Saturday and Sunday were pretty much the same:  rain, rain, and more rain.  Monday it was sunny (as it has been all week long) and I wanted to go outside to play, but felt awful.  Wednesday I made an appointment for Pip, who still wasn't acting her normal self, and discovered she had an ear infection.  Poor thing, she didn't even complain or anything.  Despite feeling like I'd been run over by a truck- darn allergies, we did manage to snap a few pics and go to a Houston Rockets basketball game for Family Date Night! Thanks to antibiotics and lots of allergy medicine, we're all on the up and up.

I came home from church and crashed on the couch.  I spent most of the week here.

8 Months!

There's a little cutie in our house who just turned 8 months!   Can you believe it?  I sure can't.  Wasn't she just a newborn like yesterday?

What is Brynnie up to now?

*For starters, Baby B speaks!  She said "Mama"  this past week and associated the word with me.  She was crying and looked over at me and said, "mama".  Melted by heart.  She hasn't said much this week.  Maybe she's not going to be a talker like her sister.  I've been practicing sign language with her.  We've been learning "more", "eat", and "diaper change".  I've been trying to teach her to nod/shake her head for "yes" and "no".   She doesn't sign just yet, but she does let you know things in her own language:  banging on food tray:  "more" or "yes",   open mouth:  "eat", diaper change:  cry, yum:  big grin on her face

*Brynnie loves being on the floor.  She spends most of her day playing on the floor with just about anything she can reach.  If she's not on the floor and in my arms, she'll stiff board herself and slide down my lap onto the floor.  Once she's there, she's happy as a clam!

* You would think that with all this floor time she would be crawling, but not yet.  She's almost there with her lunge, but her legs get caught under her.  I almost had her in crawling position and then she rolled over into "happy baby"  pose.  She'll  crawl soon enough.

* As you can tell by the pictures, she still has that gummy smile.  Not a single tooth has popped up and I don't even feel a bump or anything in her mouth.  

*Not having teeth hasn't stopped B from eating us out of house and home!  Brynnie LOVES food- right now I'm feeding her an all organic diet- no dairy, no gluten, no preservatives, no wheat, no nothing harmful to a baby's tummy and she loves meal time.  I feed her Ella's Kitchen and I wish I had discovered this brand with Pippy because the food is delicious.  I've tried every combination of food and it's all good.  

*With food comes weaning.  We are almost weaned.  I'll nurse B in the morning, maybe in the afternoon, and then at night right before bedtime.  She's too distracted to nurse and would rather play.  I'm okay with her decision to wean.  

* She's back to sleeping normally.  I know this will change next month.  Currently, she naps in her swing in the bathroom with the fan on.  She could sleep for hours in there if I let her.  We bought a new crib bumper and sheet.  I wanted to make her crib as comfortable, plush, and padded as I could.  It's worked!  She loves sleeping in her crib and hardly wakes up in the night.

*Since we're growing so big now that we eat and sleep, Brynnie can now sit in a swing and feel the wind rustling her hair.  She has so much fun swinging with her big sister.

We have FLOORS!

We took a drive up to the house this weekend and actually got to walk inside on our new FLOORS!  The exterior is nearly done so they've been working on the inside.  Last week, the tile, granite counters, and trim work was put in.  They also painted the first of many coats of paint on the interior and were working on the bathrooms.  I'm curious to see what's on tap for this week!

The house is going to be finished at the end of March and we close/move in April.  I want to move sooner, but I'm glad we can take our time moving our things over.  We plan on adding a few decorative touches to the home so the weeks between closing and moving will help us do that.  I can't believe we own house!

our tile-  I had a bit of a panic when Bob announced that our tile was more orange that he thought.  Then I looked at the picture and realized it was the grout color (and no the grout is not orange, it just looked that way).  The floors are beautiful!

With this nice weather, it's hard not to go outside and play!

Cowgirl Up!

It's RODEO time here in Houston, Texas!  Piper's preschool celebrates the Rodeo with an annual cowboy breakfast, petting zoo, and pony rides.  I was informed that this event (and the Rodeo) are something special and to miss them pretty much means you aren't exactly a Texan.  I didn't believe it until I saw a segment on the news talking about where you can find western wear for your kids and to better shop now because they are selling out fast.  I kicked myself into high gear and made sure my kid wasn't left out of festivities!

I made her chaps out of the cow costume Bob bought for a work  function.  They were a huge hit at her preschool. I'll admit, she was the BEST dressed cowgirl! 

After breakfast, they let the kids go outside for pony rides and the petting zoo

Pippy wasn't scared to ride the horse by herself.  She did fantastic!

The petting zoo was fantastic- the animals seemed to be well taken care of and were clean.   I was surprised to see so many baby animals.  They were so cute and cuddly.  Piper had a fondness for the little ones and that black rooster back there.  Yep, Pippy petted a rooster!

And this fawn had a liking for the hats.  In fact, all the animals did.  They went after every hat wearing kid.  It was hilarious.  Being the good mommy that I am, I removed the hat (but not before I snapped a couple of pictures of Pippy yelling at the deer, "No deer, this is my hat!)  I mean seriously, check out that grip he has on her hat!?!

And this is where Pip spent most of her time- the baby pig's pen.  I'm not much of a pig lover, but he was pretty cute.

Cowboys and Cowgirls!

We had so much fun!  I'm so glad I enrolled Piper in this preschool.  It's been a great fit for her and she loves her friends and teachers.  Everyone at the school really cares about the kids and treats everyone so kindly!
